Spicy Thai feast 'chorb ar-han phet' =D

My family came over to KL for holiday, and food is always part of the holiday content..We've been thinking bout trying something spicy n hot!

So we went for Thai cuisine at this resto called Kum Thai, best fit for all. I would say that the location is highly secluded, hahaha! Located somewhere around Jalan Gasing (i cant find the address!!)
And you wont be thinking of accidentally spotted that place if  you got lost somewhere in the middle of KL lolx!!

I heard bout this place from various word-of-mouth, and they are serving authentic Thai cuisine...i'm saying this should be much better than commercialized Thai food here.

Before that, apologize for the poor photo snapping skills! Everything moved in fast-paced, before I had a chance to take any photo, everyone started whackin'...I dun even have time standby for a perfect angle xD

This is for appetizer, spinach leaves wrapped in various small toppings, Miang Kum. To eat it, you will have to wrap it in a cone shape and put all the ingredients inside, and finally top it with its sweet sauce...It tasted funny at 1st, but you'll find it yummy in the end, lolx...!  its sumthin i suggest people should try

Going for the main event, starts with Mango Shreds with Anchovies...Its appetizing for a dish, but I wouldnt say its much of a surprise for a hungry belly, its normal lolx!

Steamed fish in spicy chilli spices and lemon =D . And I'm saying I do have a very bad camera angle....I couldn't even snap a shot with the fish head lolx!! Steamed fish was fresh, but credit goes to the spicy sauces mixed with chilli...=D

Seafood Tomyum, an essential Thai food cravings~ I would say if you're not really into spicy stuff, you give this a good try...! Unlike what we taste from a Tomyum dish, this one is not as spicy...! Lotsa prawns and squids all together...worthy for a quality meal. In contrast, for spicy food lover, this one wouldn't burn ur stomach as much lolx!
However, I personally love this one hehe!

And here's Thai's Seafood Otak-otak....I have a very particular and fussy judgement on otak-otak, my family had a history of otak-otak business many decades back, lolx! But I can say, despite my judgement, this one was not nice at all for real, too much of coconut milk mixed in it (what Malay calls santan) And it covered the authentic aroma of spices that a normal otak-otak should be having

Green Curry with Beans and Chickens! :D this one will always be a favourite dish topped with a bowl of rice hahaha! Typical asian favourites! I'd always compare this with the green curry served in Absolute Thai outlets. But this one was so much nicer, very creamy and not too watery...yumm yumm

************

Overall, I would say if you wanna go for an authentic Thai food, you should just hit on this one =D.
And for those who dun really eat spicy food, this one wouldn challenge your stomach that much hahaha!

Picture your own Avatar =)

I've watched this movie called Avatar few weeks ago. Before the screening premiere of this movie, I have been blasted by the news about how good this movie would be. Besides knowing the fact that its a production of director, James Cameron, I wouldn't have slightest doubt about this movie =D

Along with it, I read about the news of it getting 4 nomination for 2010's Golden Globe awards...I think of nothing but awe! I was giving hope and with a very high expectation before I actually watching it lolx!

The story was about a futuristic age in the year 2154, where the advanced humankind was looking to exploit the planet named Pandora. Its right here that a corporation has been employed to hunt for a valuable mineral in Pandora, which lies right at the center of inhabition group called Na’vi.

Marines and military troupes were hired to hunt down the mineral. Each of the marine will have to control a body called Avatar. And so much for Lady Luck to fall upon a marine, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) who managed to join into the group of Na'vi civilisation through his Avatar. He acted as a spy to learn about the culture and lives of this group.

After much learning, Jake began to fall in love with the fantasy he's been living into this life, at the same time fell for Neytiri (Zoë Saldaña), a female Na'vi.

After a period 3 months, the human have no patience of waiting and started to engage into desperate violence to hunt for the mineral.
And Jake Sully took all that it takes to defend the Na'vi with his life...and so on and so on. The rest of the story will have to be watched to really get into the depth of it. I wouldn't wanna explain more bout it lolx!!!

Here's a preview trailer to bring up memories again of the adventure

*****************

So far I would say this will be a movie worth watching after the whole 2009. I gave 2 thumbs up..! James Cameron created a very broad, lively and in-depth civilisation in the picture of this movie.
We can have an imaginary feeling of the life in this world and seeing how the team put in all the ideas was incredible. I would say this is part of the reason why this movie was given so much credit.  =D

Lots of disappointment in movies that have not been reaching my expectations. Some big examples are summer movies in '09 like: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Star Trek and GI Joe still did not manage to beat last year's The Dark Knight.

Before I manage to lose hope for this year, at least Avatar saved up the whole pack for 2009 lolx!!

So much so for movies in the year 2009!

Next year's awaiting movie: Iron Man 2!!

advanced Xmas celebration with my gang =D

Xmas dinner, here's where our feast begins!
We've planned for a dinner like this for a while...and since we know its for an annual celebration, I wouldn't mind burning a hole in my wallet, lolx!!

We had dinner at Jake's Charbroiled Steaks, a theme of a lil' country-style western resto. I went there with my pack of gang hahaa! Had some pressies exchange and feast all together..It was quite a fun consider we dun it often.

Back to the main event, where we had our xmas feast!

Its dark, and it looked hideous too hahahaha!! But its much brighter when we are there in fact lolx!!

Some of the pressies we had for exchange, well I dun mind getting more pressies, but I received 4 all together. lolx!!

Appetizer starts with some lovely hot soup. Saliva was dripping, we need some soup to save us some of it xD

MY seafood chowder, with prawns and oyster yeaaa~! It tasted good tho i wouldn't say its da best tho!

Clam chowder, looked kinda like a chinesey soup here lolx! But i would say it doesn't taste like a chinese soup after all...! Dun judge book by its cover, it lighten up my tastebuds :D

Oxtail soup! This is yummmm again...maybe coz I never had an oxtail soup before xD i find it rather...interesting! lolx! But you wouldnt risk trying

Here's for the main event! Some of the rather heavy meals that is very very satisfying.

Here's the intro of grilled chicken mushroom and garlic, with plenty of fries..this is ok, I wouldnt minus much marks coz of fries lolx!

Grilled lamb steak, very juicy for a lamb. I would not much grilled lamb will be juicy in fact =D. Worth a try

Here's for the love of chicken fans! hahahaha! Chicken bombay...overall it looks interesting for a cover i wouldnt deny. You like spicy food, you like chicken? Then you'll like this =D

And how would I miss a steak in the house, when I was eating in a steakhouse xD! My fren had a Aus Grilled Sirloin steak! Juicy medium-raw, was cooked just fine...! Its burning a hole on the pocket, yet worth the burn hahaha!

Desserts yum yum...its a Pecan nut pie with Vanilla ice cream =D

Final go~ everyone had a satisfying dinner...! Overload of capacity on the stomach...so its time to foot our bill

Total for an 8 person dinner, I would say its a common price lolx!!

Thanks myself for my food promotio this time, and thanks my gang for our lovely dinner...! Its an upgrade of a feast compared to last year lolx!

A peek on the location for whoever who wanna try it next time =D

那天是冬至

23rd of December 2009, dated today is the Chinese's 冬至. And upon the date traditionally people will eat a type of sweet dessert soup filled with glutinous rice balls called 汤圆 (Tangyuan).

Well, to the traditional Chinese this is a festival celebrated during the Dongzhi solar term which happened around December 22nd or 23rd. It is when sunshine is weakest and daylight is shortest.

Sounds very philosophical ayeee?? LOL! Well, that's about what I know.
But, my reason isn't to learn bout history, but is to eat dessert soup like I always does yearly xD

I went to my godmom's house for 'tangyuan' and dinner, well I saved my dinner for tat day lolx!
Here's some of the pic snapped :D

Rice balls served in soya bean, unlike common ones tat served with ginger soup...hehe!!

And i calculated, had 3 rice balls with peanuts, 1 in black sesame, and 1 with red bean fillings =D

Kiddo playroom in the office

Few days ago, my office was having this focus group research in the sofa room =D

Working is always boring, and sometimes it gave u some unimaginable stress tat gave u nitemares even when u are sleeping.
At least I should need a couple of things tat can lighten up my pressured hours.

We had a focus group for kids, showing kids on some Ads on TV and record down their opinions about the Ad. Dun be surprised bout all these research, it does help for the growth of companies at times.. hahaha!

Office looks matured overall, but owing to this, we have to make transformation of the room into a playroom.

Ok back to tat, we're targeting kids of age 7-9 yrs old, so this is what we have to do in the sofa room XD
Had some party hats, and soft toys on the sofa. As u can see, there's Pooh, powerpuff girl and some smiling monkey, etc, etc...! lolx! Here's wat keep them busy XD

We have some Pooh mask and clown pictures pasted on the wall.... at least something to make it look kinda kiddo hahaha!

All in all, at least it change some layout of company, I wont get bored looking at something similar everyday. Its sumthin different for my eyes hahaha!

Frenzy is Malacca - Final Day

Finally its time to go home =(
It wouldnt be the happiest day, but well...there will be a day that we have to go home.

But that doesnt mean that we will stop hanging out before we go home lolx...!

We had a great meal for breakfast before we headed back to the bus station. Its something very filling that will keep us from getting hungry for few hours hehehe!

Mee rendang for the breakfast, however I would say it was not of the favourite list...i still miss the nyonya laksa from day 2 LOL!

Cendol ais kacang with 'gula melaka', and no deny this is yumm once again... =D
Its ice blended display looks normal, but i love the combination of gula melaka...all together 2 thumbs up

*************

We've seen something really unique and special hahaha! This is something I would like to share with everyone:

Very kinky type of g-string, its so convenient that you can even wear it in few seconds xD

That's all for our 3 days and 2 nite's trip...full of fun. Eat to the fullest! After all, if you would like to have a cheap trip, nice food and old-town concept...this is the place to go =D

Frenzy is Malacca - Day Two

Day 2!! Woke up early in the morning, tired and blurrr….but it doesn’t stop me from staying on my bed for too long, hahaha!

We are up early, heading for our first meal of the day. Though the rented house we’re staying is cheap, yet they still serve free breakfast, lolx! So we suggested for a free breakfast, before our official ones HAHA!
Here’s an opening for the morning, coffee of the day to keep us awake =D
They served varieties of breakfast, this is what I had that day…traditional egg burger, home-made version lolx!
And here’s the classic chinesey breakkie, morning toast and half-boiled egg…!
****************
Done with our appetizer, heading for our official breakfast session…~ and again we hit on Jonker street :D
How to find shops tat served yummy food? Easy, just look for a place with long queue! LOL..!! It doesn’t take very long for us to find a spot for a breakfast hunt. So here we are! A place with the best nyonya laksa and asam laksa! YUMM
I dunno what’s the name of the shop….Jonker Dessert? Museum Café?? Whatever..lolx! coz it’s a display of different combination. Placed on the wall are the old artifacts, collectors stuff, etc

Main event, FOOD! Very very early nyonya laksa to spice up your life haha!
And these are the asam laksa to quench your thirst…ohh no, it makes u wanna drink more water…Trust me, it is spicy lolx!! We didn expect it to be cheap, RM3 per bowl...you can eat 2 bowls for a price of 1 in KL!
**********************
After our breakfast, we had a little walk to had a view on some historical spots…You will find lotza white caucasian taking pics here lolx.
Here’s the Methodist church in Malacca, there were ppl inside the church giving prayers… :D
A snap of the historical building, A Famosa fortress...But now, it looks more like a kids' park..You can find people selling souvenir, kids running and ppl playing guitar lolx!! I had tat different feeling here

I dunno how this was taken, but it made me look dramatic lolx!
Walking down the path after the fortress, it actually leads to the shopping mall.

I complained that I did not have any souvenir, all my money was spent for my stomach...lolx!
That's why I have it now =D Spidey bolster
****************
Our next stop, we headed to this shop, The Coconut House....having some time exploring the street to get here hehe..!
It will look ancient without the cars parked nearby lolx!
The ambience inside The Coconut House was kinda 'nyonya-ish' well, perhaps to match with the environment surrounded it. Rare concept, they used woodfire to toast and bake pizza into thin crust, not some commercialized pizza i've always ate..those tasted like toasted bread lolx!!
For appetizer, the essential mushroom soup in basil, and garlic bread...it doesnt taste salty or creamy...weird tho, but i love it
And here goes the next one, Rosemary Cheesey pizza ~deliziosa!!
This shall be ranked top 1...!! Seafood mozzarella! yummm! Very cheesey too and the aroma of the mozzarella travelled to my nose before they even served it!
Pizza wasnt that filling, it felt like snack...thus we have a large capacity to input for our next meal hahah!! We went for 'Satay celup', a Malacca dish where they serve raw meats, seafood and vege skewers to be dipped in a peanut gravy sauce
A volcano of gravy sauce, very hot hmmmm ~~~
Some displays of the 'Satay' (skewers) we had for that day lolx!!
****************
So much for breakkie, lunch and dinner...! It was a happy food hunting tripp...
We went back to Jonker street, nightlife there looked different from the day time. And you get to pack together on a small street, its a huge crowd at night, hahaha!
We had few drinks at Geographer Pub, next to the street...for a change, its a very nice environment for an open-air pub.
We had fun, drink, laughed, looked at beer ladies and chicas sitting on the table lolx!!
And so much for the day, we headed back to our room, waiting for our next day :D
