Italiano cravings - Part II

Second round of italiano cravings since my first hunt at Pizza Milano...! This time, introducing another resto called Italiannies, bringing in our favourite American-Italian meals that ranges from pizza, pastas, oven-baked chickens, etc. This was the second time coming here, and this time at the Curve.

The first round was in OneU, which doesn't really visualize a classic Italian resto theme. In contrast, the second time dine-in here at the Curve, I would give a higher rating on the ambiance.
The settings were so much of a nice, quiet and romantic concept, if anyone has no idea where to go for Valentine's might as well come here =D a nice place for romantic dinner...~

I always like a typical Euro-style dining furniture lolx!! Square table with checkered red/blue covers haha!

Apparently, I have a keen interest at different portraits displays; and if you've notice, most of the pictures hang on the wall are similar!

Alright, before i turn this blog into a typical furniture topics, lets move to food sections. xD
They will always offer customers with complimentary breads, served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar... =))
Its very common here to eat bread dippin' with hot Indian chicken curry, lolx!! But dipping with olive oil and vinegar is somethin' different~ But it was good combination though, Italian way!  *thumbs up*

Perhaps if you want to dip your bread with something new, just get some of these bottles back home and start exercising new ways of eating XD

Here's our cafe latte for a start, is this Italian?? *grin*

What we have here is this, Pizza Caprese =D Stone-grilled pizza with vegetable toppings, a healthy start for an appetizer...Toppings include: baby tomatoes, basil, onions and fresh cheese...! Can I say that this is an organic solution for food? lolx!

For main course, we have here is the Balsa Glazed Chicken. Half-chicken, oven-baked  with different spices, served with garlic topped broccoli, roasted jacket-potato wedges and marinated onions =D. I gave a big 'A' for this course, I loved the oven-baked chicken, it was so crunchy that I can even eat some of the chicken bones, lolx!!

This is a two-course meal that serves your choice of appetizers and main course from the list in the menu, costing RM27.90.  (exclude our drinks and 15% gov and service tax LOL!)

For those who's not a big eater, you can share this one and it can still satisfy your appetite. I can say its not too expensive too if you measure the amount that way =D

My personal diet programme

Recently had my own diet programme, i do not know how long this will last...~
It will solely depend on my own willpower and motivation....I was motivated after so many comments from different people saying that im putting up weight..

People at my age will start to have either big tummy, round body, or fat cheek...!! This is horrible...and apparently I've come up with my own programme.
More exercise, less food hahaha! I've went for jogging for these few weeks :D

Here's how I've extracted some info from articles on what we can do to help...perhaps it can help you too =D
  1. Eat less. More often. Rather than eating large meals, chop up your eating into smaller portions throughout the day. I found myself eating 3 meals most days and having a snack around 3pm as well as another in the evening. That was enough to keep me from feeling hungry while still eating less in total.
  2. Don't eat right before going to bed. I've read this numerous times and don't get why it works, but it does. I set a limit of 3 hours. So I planned to go to bed at midnight, I wouldn't eat past 9pm.
  3. Brush your teeth early. For whatever reason, I won't eat when my teeth still feel clean. By brushing them several hours before bed, it was easier to accomplish #2.
  4. Kick the sugar habit. If you drink sugared soft drinks (I used to be a Mt. Dew and Coke fan), replace them either with their diet counterparts or water. This can make a very, very big difference.
  5. Eat vegetables before the main course. Whenever possible, I'd make sure to have an ample serving of a vegetable (you get very few calories for the amount you eat) before eating the denser main course--often a meat or fish. You'll need less of the dense stuff to be happy.
  6. Update your spreadsheet daily. Keeping a running count will help you ration out the rest of your daily calorie allowance, which we'll talk about tomorrow.
  7. Get used to leftovers. When you eat out, expect to take some of your meal home. If you eat standard restaurant portions, you'll almost certainly overeat.
  8. Shop with calories in mind. When you're at the grocery store, spends some extra time reading the labels and nutritional information. You'll probably end up changing your shopping habits along the way. You'd be surprised by the how widely the calorie counts in various granola bars varies, for example.
  9. Slow down! When you eat fast, you end up ingesting more food before you body has a chance to figure out that it's satisfied (not full).
  10. Drink more water during the day. This is fairly generic advice, but definitely seems to help.
  11. Trick yourself with gum. Sometimes we eat out of habit or because it just feels good to get some flavor in your mouth and chew for a while. Find yourself some sugar-free chewing gum and use it when the urge strikes.
  12. Reduce the amount of breads, chips, crackers, and salty snacks you eat. A lot of starchy and/or salty food make you want to eat and drink even more. This comes straight out of Atkins diet culture.

And perhaps that this as an advice on how we should have proper eating habits lolx!!
Nonetheless I have many doubts that it wont work, coz there's alot of people out there that loves eating just like me xD But no harm trying even if it might jz last for 1 month onli haha!

Itadakimasu - いただきます! Jappie foodie

This round jappie foodie hunt!

I don't really fancy Japanese food, but at least I gave a try-out with my colleagues at Zakuro Japanese resto near to Ampang Park lrt station. The more popular ones will be based in Mont Kiara in fact. It just happens that this franchise was so near to our office, we'll just try it out here =D

The funny talk about this resto is that, the display of the menu actually look LESS attractive than the food itself lolx!! In fact, it all comes in sets, and we couldn't really choose some selected dishes (or our so-called a-la carte choices).

They served first with this marinated mushrooms =D  Unfortunately, i didn know what are the ingredients that are marinated together with...it was nice, covers the original taste of the mushroom in fact.

Some display of different types of miso soups, that gives u a slurrrpyyyyy satisfaction =)

These are some of the slightly authentic japanese sushi you can find. The sashimi was much better than those in stores at least.

I ordered my Chicken Teppanyaki, it were cooked with the butter sauces which was nice in the first place. But unfortunately, i find it too salty due to the amount of butter in fact...kinda dissapointed with it.

The set comes with rice, cooked pumpkin, and fruits. I am surprised that I liked their rice actually lolx!

It was then comes with the dessert, our green tea ice cream topped with red bean paste, RM5. It was quite pricey for a small single scoop.

The set comes with a choice of course meal, serves together with rice, cooked pumpkin slice, fruits and miso soup. RM22.50++, worth the value if you wan to try out some authentic Japanese food. =D

A new Webb for Spider-Man

Oh well, we have heard, there's Spider-Man movie no more...~ there wont be anymore Tobey Macguire or Sam Raimi for the next Spider-Man movie saga...! It was sad and disappointing for sure, nonetheless its the past so be it!

As for a new reboot, Sony and Marvel takes up a new storyline and brand new team for the whole project.
Therefore, we have this guy called Marc Webb to direct on the whole new reboot. Before that, a director of the Golden Globe-nominated Best Picture "(500) Days of Summer," and now to be directing the new franchinse, set to hit theaters summer 2012.
(BEWARE: a lot of sensitive spidey fans going to compare Marc with Sam Raimi or even expecting it to be better of coz).

As for an introduction of the background of our fella fren, here's some of the achievements he had attained before this:
Marc Webb has won acclaim with his film debut "(500) Days of Summer." He has several MTV VMAs including 2009's Best Director award for Green Day's "21 Guns," 2006 Best Rock Video for AFI's "Miss Murder" and Best Group Video for The All-American Rejects' "Move Along." The Music Video Production Association honored him in 2006 as the Director of the Year for his work with Weezer, AAR and My Chemical Romance.

Based on what have mentioned, the team is going to create a new story that will have a very detailed and sharp focus on the life of Peter Parker as a high school teenager and obstacles he will be going thru his life.

Initially there are a few potential directors tat might be moved to our wishlists, one of them? James Cameron (director of Avatar). Well, lets just say he's not interested on this project, too bad then...And if its otherwise, i am very sure its going to be a freakin' BIG HIT!

Rumors had it that Robert Pattinson might be the new Peter Parker for the next movie??!!! O.o
Alright, I do not wanna break the heart of Twilight heartthrob fan, he can be a lovely Edward Cullen, the sexy vampy. But he doesn't have any matches to be Peter Parker and its an unacceptable role!

As soon as I received a big shock about the rumors, i looked thru newsletter and article for a valid confirmation. Fortunately, it was confirmed that this is JUST a rumor and is NOT going to be true.
At least i can save myself some soul and good night's sleep... =D

And who is going to be the next Peter Parker?? There is no confirmation, I wanted to know too =D

Caught some shrimps at Bubba Gump =D

Run Forrest Run!! We've heard about all this common quotes, if you have watched Forrest Gump in the first place.

Yesterday was a whole load of fun, me and my colleagues (maybe i should say, most of my EX-colleagues) had this gathering at Bubba Gump Shrimp & Co at The Curve...to have some fresh seafood catch!! A very unique concept was that, it adapted the ideas from this movie, Forrest Gump.

Forrest Gump (by Tom Hanks) heaps the Academy Awards in 1994 with 6 winnings, this would rather drive the motivation for us to watch this one , lolx!

Likewise, this resto adapted the theme of 'Forrest Gump' movie and gathered all the inspiration from the movie to create a setting that matches.
And this is where I find it quite rare and interesting at the same time about B.G! Perhaps this is why menus comes all pricey.... HAHA!

If anyone would like to know, B.G served mostly of shrimp dishes, and also other seafood, whether it is Cajun style, boiled, broiled, baked or deep-fried.

I like the concept of the resto, in fact if you'd to walk inside, you can assume that all the settings looked like mid 40's . Wait, are we in a dock? lolx! Coz it looks like one...!

This movie is all about running, if you have watched it....haha! We cant seem to leave out some of the favourite quotes. No wonder they put the signage on each of the table.

A bucket with a happy face =D

*******************

And for the main event!! We've got to do some reading on the menu!
The menu was quite attracting for the love of anyone who reads hahaha! Weird names and creative definition for each of the dishes lolx!!

I cant possibly be snappin pics of all the pages in the menu, so this is where we will be looking at. If you wanna have cheaper selection, go for Captain's Fish n' Chips (RM25.90) =D

Started off with our appetizer, none other than our old-time garlic bread! Perhaps the way I snapped it doesn't even look like one....it looked like shrimps instead xD

Ahoy!  Here comes our Captain's Fish n' Chips, battered and deep-fried fish fillet serves with fries, salads and tartar sauce. All the presentation of food are served on top of a reading paper. lolx! At least after finish eating you can get to read.

Here's our Sweet Home BBQ Burger, topped with sweet and tangy BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese and crispy onion rings and fries.

I can't deny, this is the only photo that stands out hahaha! At least it was taken with a professional camera, and not my usual, cheap 2.0 megapixels camera phone lolx!
Remember i said that they gave funny names for their menu?
We named this Bubba's After the Storm.
Stated there:-
"Bucket of Boat Trash" Flash fried Shrimp, Fish with Cajun Spices, and steamed Canadian Lobster Claw. Served with Fries.

No clear picture on our Dixie Style Baby-back ribs, sorry, lolx! But see how our friend was focusing on the food instead haha!

And here's the big group who made too much noise on the table...! We had fun and shared lotza topics together. Hope to get together again soon =)

Overall the food was not up to my expectation, it was just okayyyyy. It is not really worth the value of the food, that's for sure! The quality of food couldn't really defeat some of the independent western resto.
We are actually paying for the environment and ambience rather than the food. (I can't deny environment was  good enough).
But come and visit during the time when your wallet is somehow thick, hahaha!

Italiano cravings at Milano~~

Another trip to OneU for festive season shopping...You'll notice that you're actually walking around Chinatown that's placed inside a shopping mall...!
Full of red and auspicious decorations, no doubt its for the comin' Chinese New Year and that's another 21 days to go! lolx!

People are crowding the mall with many of shopping bags on both hands, of coz mainly for their new year goods, etc. Despite all the  decorations and crowded shoppers...I still need to eat~!

Here, dropped by to this resto called Pizza Milano. Located right at the center of the big aisle on 2nd floor.
They placed the menu at their pillars, catching people's eyes and attention, especially at the price. That's why I wanted to enter as well.. lol!

It wasn't that pricey, normal cafe price you can afford to eat.

While waiting for our food, you can assume that these displays can be our starter, hahaha!

Here's the Fettucine Carbonara, RM 8.50, with garlic sauce, mushroom and ham slices....Eating this you will go *slurrrrpp* coz its veryyy creamy. I would say that its cream too sticky for a common fettucine.
A note for Carbonara lover: too bad it doesn't have much of a carbonara content...i would say its not a perfect choice of creamy pasta.

Next on the table was Supreme Seafood, RM 9.99 (small), loaded with chunky tuna, cheesy toppings and mayo~* This is a kind of pizza that will well-aligned with local tastebud.
We know we love tunas, we like mayo hahaha! Unless you're looking for a classic, authentic pizza, this is not the one.. =)

My favourite, Beef Pepperoni Supreme RM13.99 (large), with mozarella toppings, it comes with 8 slices...This one tasted good so far, flavoring was just nice for a pepperoni pizza, still feel cheesey and soft on the toppings...can see that it was finely toasted :D yummm yumm!

A cup of cold cold drink to cool down the hot tabasco in my mouth !

***************

Overall, if you're looking for a rather economical Italian cravings, I dun mind asking you to eat here! Honestly its way better than the servings at Pizza Hut (at roughly the same price).

However, it would be better if they have better lighting and bigger tables! At least i can stretch my hand and eat my pizza!! hahaha!

Save our little Haitians

2010 has been a good year for some of us...yet, its not fortunate for some other people in fact.
As I was reading the news, it gets even more disturbing when I was reading some of the article about the Haiti disaster... =(

New year, and new disaster crashed upon Haiti, as we've known from major broadcast news....7.0 magnitude scale rocked the earth of Haiti, with the rough estimated dead counts of 70,000.

I would say, we're quite fortunate to stay out of disaster, or even so, there isn't anything as tormenting as this.
It is only because there's breaking news that people started to join in to lend a hand, or help out the poor....Before we realized that, even without disasters occurred, a lot of people still do need aids from the richer ones.

Anyway, let's just hope that we wont be seeing anymore bad crisis over 2010...~

We can do our part to donate whatever we can, or just spend a bit for the sake of goodwill :D

For Malaysian, we can donate to World Vision:

**World Vision has been working in Haiti for the past 30 years and will be providing food, water, blankets, tents and medical aid for affected children and families. Malaysians who wish to donate to survivors of the Haiti Quake can do so via World Vision Malaysia. **

Spare the stomach for my BIG feast xD

Yesterday I went shopping for my necessity stuff and had dinner for fishy Fish's early birthday...when it comes to eating, it was nothing very complicated, just to have something to spare our stomach.
Our dinner was quite hmmmm huge tat it kills my motivation to keep fit all this while hahaha!

Had our dinner at Chili's Grill and Bar....~ for people who had eaten kinda pricey western foodies, perhaps you would have tried this =D

Anyway, this is still my fav south western restaurant! =D It was quite pricey though, but foodies in the menu worth all the cent you spent lolx!

They served American food that was kinda influenced by Tex-Mex cuisine. The ambience and decoration they put up were practically south-western concept I would say, fitting the simple Mexican resto theme.
Alrightey, lets eat! Vamos a comer!!

For drinks, that will be like well....rather simple lolx! Here's the coffee for coffee lover...~ and I would like to promote the sugar packaging from the resto xD

I had my apple juice, which tasted more like sugar than fruit to me...But i wouldn't mine bottomless drink in any case =D

Fishy Fish had this Monterey Chicken (RM 26.75), marinated n grilled chic breast with cheese n seasoned tomatoes. Well, it doesn't really taste as good as any other dish I have tasted before. The mashed potato and broccoli for its side dishes were much better than its chicken in fact xD

I had my Chicken Club Tacos (RM24.96), had 3 tortilla-filled chicken, chopped beef bacon, served with mexican rice and red beans. For a normal consumption, the size of the plate fits as a meal for two haha!!
This is my all-time favourite mexican foodie....but its not bias, I really LOVE this lolx!

Basically, eating at Chili's doesn't mean that we have to eat CHILLI or 'Chili'??? lolx! Nonetheless, it seems to look like they encouraged customers to eat more, through display of various signage hahahaha!
Yet, you can take my word, there isn't any food in the resto that is TOO spicy that an asian can't take it xD
